Dear Restaurant Owner or Manager: If you feel that the loud music is intruding upon your patrons dining in front, please let Medium-Rare Records know. Read on: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PUBLIC NUISANCE COMPLAINT AGAINST MEDIUM-RARE RECORDS May 20, 2004 More than a dozen times since the beginning of this year, I've had to complain to Medium-Rare Records (2310 Market Street), to lower their very loud music. Tonight around 8pm, once more their music was especially loud, so I went downstairs to tell them to lower it. I then told the owner (who was working then, I don't know his name), that I'm growing tired of having to keep reminding them to turn their noise down. He was rude to me, claiming he's always been nice whenever I've complained. Now, I don't find it "nice" when they continue to raise their music volume--despite the many times I've complained--I guess in hopes I'll grow tired from complaining. When I made some suggestions as to how easy it would be to keep the noise level down, he just tried to wave me out the store. Therefore, I'm composing this letter, as a complaint...in hopes the workers at Medium-Rare Records will finally comply. My suggestions are easy to implement; thus the only reason I can see for any further non-compliance, is pure meanness. I suggested these two simple solutions to the worker/owner, who refused to even consider them...which is quite rude, in my opinion. SUGGESTIONS TO KEEP THE LOUD NOISE OFF 1) Simply remove those speakers you have on the outside of your door, that blare your music over the sidewalk, like you were having a block party. That way, you could still play loud inside your store, if customers want it that way. (I'm sure that the loudness from those speakers is not pleasant to outdoor patrons of the two restaurants on either side. In fact, I don't see how they could even hear each other talk, without having to yell.) 2) If you are so offended by my suggestion to remove the outdoor speakers...then the owner should set a rule that the volume dial should be set to go no higher than indicated by a mark on the volume control button. The previous owner of Medium-Rare Records was never so loud as the present owners. And all I am asking, is the same respect we received from the previous owner. If you (the owner) choose to not respect this request for civil respect towards the residents who live above, and are subjected to regular and needless noise disturbance...then I see no option, but to process a formal complaint with the police department, and city hall.
